Starting my New Year's Resolutions Early

In 2018, I am going to ry to Blog more, daily, or at least weekly. I hope to share interesting information, news alerts and fun stuff I encounter in my work. Here I go...

Of late when I was waiting for results of Sotheby's once yearly Judaica auction I saw that once again the Metropolitan Museum of Art stepped up to work out a pre-sale agreement: the magnificent 14th century illuminated Hebrew Bible now joins the Met's collection. The Bible was estimated to be the high point of the Sotheby's Judaica auction (estimate between 3.5 to 5 million, the highest of all nearly 200 lots). In 2013, a similar event occurred when the remarkable 15th Century illuminated Mishnah Torah from the Steinhardt collection was purchased in a resale agreement between the Met and the Israel Museum. Bravo to the Met for seeking to build its Judaica collection by adding extraordinary treasures Judaica. we will actually be able to see this manuscript at the Cloister, where it will be on display.
